GOAL
Make the product even more interesting for retail sales.
IMPACT
mid-game, late-game
MECHANICS
Product brand influences retail sales in a similar way to product quality, but the influence is not limited by demand. The more valuable the brand, the better the retail sales.
A product can become branded when it reaches a certain level of popularity. Just like it gets higher quality when it reaches a certain number of patents.
Popularity is gained through an advertising campaign. Player can make the campaign on their own or hire an advertising agency. Similar to executive recruitment. CMO increases the amount of popularity gained from an advertising campaign.
Brand value
The value of the brand increases:
ad A
NPC customers like it when a product is created by a player from the ground up. So the more the player would have made himself, the greater the value of the brand.
Example:
The player makes cows.
Cows makes from purchased feed and water will have a lower brand value than cows makes from own water and feed.
Cows makes from own feed from purchased vegetables and grain will have a lower brand value than cows makes from feed from own vegetables and grain.
etc.
ad B
NPC customers don't trust a brand that has a lot of different products. So the more brands a player has from different industries, the lower the brand value will be.
Example:
The player has two branded products.
If both branded products are from the food industry (cheese and butter), then the brand has a higher value, than if one product is from the food industry (cheese) and second is from the construction industry (wood).
ad C
NPC customers are willing to spend more money on a brand if it can only be bought in a limited number of stores. So if the player only sell to one player, the brand will be worth more than if he sells to five players.
ad D
Customers trust an established brand more than a brand that has just entered into retail. So if a player produces one product for a long time, the brand is worth more than if he has just acquired a branded product.
If a player stops selling a product to players, its popularity declines until customers forget about it and the product loses its brand.
Limited editions
The branded product allows for the production of limited editions, which further increases interest in the product. At the start of production it would be possible to select that it is a limited edition.
The value of a limited edition is increased by the time since the last limited edition and the number of products in the limited edition.
