Transportation is a personal interest of mine which is why I have thought of this idea. There have been some ideas for this in the past but I want to expand on them and link them into the game to show how it could be a great industry idea.
New Products:
Trains: Obviously it wouldn't just be one single train, there could be something similar to aerospace currently but with, Highspeed Train, Local Train, etc...
Trams/Trolleys: Although similar to trains, this could be where people start when trying to get into the transportation industry and therefore it could be a cheaper option to start with.
Taxis (Maybe Just Cars): These would be used with the Taxi Stand building.
Buses: These would be made in car factories and could be used at a bus stop in a similar way to trains.
New Buildings:
Train Factory: This is where you would make the trains and trams.
Rail Yard: I think they should have something similar to this in the aerospace part of the game, but not just sending the product to your warehouse, but to a train yard for storage before selling it I think would be a good game mechanic as being able to store everything in your warehouse is a little bit un-realistic.
Train Station: This would be the retail side of the industry as if there wasn't, this industry wouldn't work. The train station would have a similar functionality to the sales office where it would search for a order, but it this case it would be a train route. Then they would be able to send that train, and based on what type it is they make more or less money, and it takes more or less time. Some sort of system would have to be in where trains went down in quality and would have to be repaired in the train yard.
Tram Stop: Similarly to the train station, this would be basically exactly the same but with trams instead.
Taxi Stand: This would be similar to the mechanics of the train station where based on how many taxis you have, what quality they are, and what type of car they are would change how many customers you would get and how much you would make for your taxi trips. Eventually, after X amount of uses, they would have to be replaced.
Bus Stop: Basically the same mechanics I have been talking about but for buses, potentially a car warehouse could be implemented to repair the buses and taxis so you don't have to buy new ones all the time (more cost effective but takes up a construction slot so, trade off).
If you have any criticisms of my idea please share them and I will see if I have an idea of how that could be fixed potentially.
